چکیده

ln this paper, the efficiency of a fully adiabatic logic circuit is compared with its combinational and pipelined static CMOS counterparts. The performance of each circuit is studied in terms of the maximum frequency of operation, the minimum voltage of operation, the circuit energy consumption, and the switching noise generated by the circuit. An 8-bit carry look-ahead adder is designed using a 0.6-pm CMOS technology for all three logic styles. Based on the post-layout simulation results, the adiabatic adder exhibits energy savings of 76% to 87% and 87% to 90% compared to its combinational and pipelined static CMOS counterparts, respectively. It also exhibits a considerable reduction in switching noise, compared to its static CMOS counterparts.

A Minimal-Cost Inherent-Feedback Approach for Low-Power MRF-Based Logic Gates

The Markov random field (MRF) theory has been accepted as a highly effective framework for designing noise-tolerant nanometer digital VLSI circuits. In MRF-based design, proper feedback lines are used to control noise and keep the circuits in their valid states. However, this methodology has encountered two major problems that have limited the application of highly noise immune MRF-based circui...

Low-Energy Logic Circuit Techniques for Multiple-Valued Logic

Multiple valued logic (MVL) has been proposed as a means for reducing the power, improving the speed, and increasing the packing density of VLSI circuits. These performance improvements are achieved by designers who identify signal processing functions that can benefit from the design tradeoffs possible with MVL. Since advocates of MVL are accustomed to incorporating the possible tradeoffs of M...

Design and Analysis of Conventional CMOS and Energy Efficient Adiabatic Logic for Low Power VLSI Application

In recent years, low power circuit design has been an important issue in VLSI design areas. Adiabatic logics, which dissipate less power than static CMOS logic, have been introduced as a promising new approach in low power circuit design. energy. This paper proposes an Adder circuit based on energy efficient two-phase clocked adiabatic logic. A simulative investigation on the proposed 1-bit ful...

Clocked CMOS adiabatic logic with integrated single-phase power-clock supply

The design and experimental evaluation of a clocked adiabatic logic (CAL) is described in this paper. CAL is a dual-rail logic that operates from a single-phase ac power-clock supply. This new low-energy logic makes it possible to integrate all power control circuitry on the chip, resulting in better system efficiency, lower cost, and simpler power distribution. CAL can also be operated from a ...
